Noises and symptoms

A sharp pop when the door moves usually comes from a dry or worn hinge, a roller binding in the track. One loud bang while the door sits still is different: that's a torsion spring breaking. Look at the shaft above the door for a gap in the coil.
The opener stops or reverses when its safety system thinks something is in the way. That can be a blocked or misaligned sensor, a close-force setting that's too low, or a roller dragging in a bent track. Clear the sensors first. If it keeps happening, the door needs a look.
Most stuck doors have one of four causes: a broken spring, a cable off its drum, rollers out of the track, or an opener that has lost its gear or its limits. Each one needs a different fix, so describe what the door did just before it stopped.
Stop pressing the button. A door that rises partway and quits is usually too heavy for the opener because a spring is weak or broken. Leave it where it is, keep people from walking under it, and call. Running it again can strip the opener's gear.

Openers and sensors

It can clear a glitch on some models, the same as restarting anything electronic. It won't fix a stripped gear, a bad sensor or a weak spring. If the opener still blinks a code after it's plugged back in, count the flashes and tell us the number.
Check the small lights on both sensors. If one is off or blinking after you clean the lenses and line them up, the sensor, its wiring or the opener's sensor input is at fault. Doors that close only while you hold the wall button down point the same way.
Many can, with an add-on controller, as long as the opener has working photo eyes. Chamberlain Group's myQ works with LiftMaster and Chamberlain units. Since late 2023, myQ no longer allows unofficial third-party apps, so check which app you want before buying hardware.

Doors and panels

A small dent in a steel skin can sometimes be eased out, but creases rarely disappear. If a section is badly dented or buckled, replacing that one section is cleaner, when the maker still makes it. Two or more damaged sections usually make a new door the better call.
Usually only through a door company, and only if the manufacturer still makes your door's style, size and color. Have the brand and model label ready; it's often on the inside of a section. Faded paint means a new section may not match the rest.
Scratches and the bottom edge are where it starts, and salt air speeds it up. Touch up scratches early and rinse the door with mild soap and water every so often, as Clopay recommends. Rust that has eaten through the skin can't be patched for long.

Booking

On the west side, call us: Kapolei, Makakilo, Ewa Beach, Ocean Pointe, Waipahu, Waipio and the Waianae Coast. We focus on Leeward Oahu so the drive stays short. Outside the west side? Ask when you call.
Yes. A photo of the whole door, the bar above it and the opener's label tells us most of what we need before anyone drives out. Add a line on what happened and your neighborhood, and we'll call or text back.
Always, and in writing. After checking springs, cables, rollers, track and opener, you get the price for the repair, plus the price of replacement when that's worth comparing. Nothing gets replaced until you agree.
